Nearly 55,000 households have so far been impacted by the storms, with their belongings and dwellings destroyed.

Heavy precipitation over the recent period have compounded the precarious situation of the vast number of displaced residents in the territory, as stated by relief agencies.

"Terrible" Conditions Poses Serious Risks

A representative characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with downpours so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.

"The recent weather was truly horrendous for the families. The storms were so intense... And the gusts were so forceful," said the representative.

Officials express extreme anxiety that young ones sheltering in temporary structures in damp garments will contract hypothermia and other illnesses.

Fatalities and Extensive Damage

The health ministry have reported that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures triggered by the storms.

Further statements suggest a higher number of casualties. Spokespeople stated that multiple structures had collapsed completely and dozens had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters severely flooded.
  • Countless residents required to move once more.

Aid Operations Seen as Not Enough

Organizations have escalated deliveries of shelter, warm covers and garments since the ceasefire began, but they have said there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that relief and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the needs is so immense that we still have a great number of people and children who are genuinely struggling each evening," cautioned one official.

Future Concerns and Ceasefire Provisions

The second phase of the truce involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of personnel, and other terms.

Humanitarian organizations have stressed the need for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to address pressing and ongoing needs."

The war was sparked by an attack in late 2023. Following campaigns have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the area, as per medical figures.
